Father of Charlie Bucket . In the 1971 film he is dead. In the book, musical, and 2005 film, however, he works at a local toothpaste factory, screwing the lids onto tubes, until machines are built to do the job for him, and he is laid off. In the film he later gets a job repairing the machines. He is portrayed by Noah Taylor. Mr. Bucket (His first name is never given) is the son of Grandpa Joe and Grandma Josephina in the novel, but in the film and stage adaptations, George and Georgina are his parents. He is married to Mrs. Bucket. He lives in "the Bucket shack" with his extended family, and appears to be their sole provider.
