Crunchem Hall is a school in both the book and film versions of Matilda.

History[]

The primary school in an unknown village. Crunchem Hall was run by the headmistress Miss Agatha Trunchbull in the seventies in the movie and around the fifties in the book. Even though Miss Trunchbull founded Crunchem Hall in the book, there was a school board that supposedly told her she was not allowed to hit the children there. Also in the book after the Trunchbull left, Mr. Trilby the deputy headmaster had informed the school board that the headmistress had mysteriously vanished. In the movie, there was no deputy headmaster so the role of headmistress went straight to Miss Honey.

In the film, Miss Agatha Trunchbull was the principal. As for the teacher, elementary school students had the same teacher (Ms. Honey) for all five school grades. (That is, for first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grade.) That is, since there was only one schoolroom (at least for a classroom).
