Bruno Jenkins is the son of Mr and Mrs. Jenkins and a young boy targeted by the Grand High Witch in an effort to test her "mouse maker" potion. After being turned into a mouse, Bruno quickly becomes an ally of Charlie Hansen and his grandmother, Agatha Hansen.

History[]

Book Adaptation[]

In the book, the unnamed main character describes Bruno as fat and gluttonous, always eating a chocolate bar, with another in his pocket. He also describes Bruno as rude and cruel as he likes to burn ants with a magnifying glass.

1990 adaptation[]

Bruno was targeted by the Grand High Witch and given chocolate laced with mouse maker potion. He presumably ate it at a time that was just perfect for the Grand High Witch as he transformed after meeting up with her at the RSPCC meeting because she offered him some more chocolate if he turned up. This was a trap of course. Bruno turned into a fat brown mouse but escaped in time and hid. Luke, when he was transformed into a mouse, found Bruno and his two pet mice and they made their way back to Luke’s Grandmother who protects them.

2020 adaptation[]

Bruno is targeted by the Grand High Witch shortly after they arrive at the hotel in an effort to test her mouse maker potion. The Grand High Witch offers Bruno a chocolate bar laced with the potion and tells him to meet her at the room an hour later. Upon doing so, she teases him with more chocolate, and all of the witches — and Charlie Hansen — witness as he turns into a large brown mouse. Moments after, the witches try to squash Bruno, but he is saved by Daisy, who is also a child who has been turned into a mouse.

Alongside Charlie, Daisy and Agatha, Bruno aids with a plan to take down the Grand High Witch and all of her coven. Furthermore, after his family abandon him, he goes to live with Agatha indefinitely, and helps with their promise to rid the Earth of witches using the mouse maker potion.

Personality[]

Little is known about Bruno's personality. He grew quite close with Charlie, Agatha and Daisy, however, despite having only known them for a short while. In the book the unnamed protagonist describes him as rude and cruel to animals because he once caught Bruno burning some ants with a magnifying glass and got into a fight with him. However Bruno seems to have forgotten this incident later on when they meet again as mice.

Trivia[]

  • He was easily tempted by the Grand High Witch and her chocolate.
